Vet, 1965-1969 & Grandfather of Thirteen to his
Fellow Countrymen Serving Their
Country Overseas and at Home
"You are not alone."
There you lay in the cold shifting sand,
thinking of war with that gun in your hand.
Wondering what tomorrow may bring,
then you pause and adjust the sling.
Who will take my place to stop this strife
If some old Dictator takes my life
They won't back down, their as stubborn as a mule;
They don't know anything of a golden rule.
You as a person have grown and are just like me,
fighting for your country, so all can be free.
It's not a job every one wants to do,
but then we are still free both
me and you?
Some people say that we shouldn't fight,
because in a war neither side is right.
If everyone knew right from wrong,
No one would tell our story or sing our song.
You'll do your job at maybe the price of your life,
so freedom can be had by others without strife.
Your life is in our maker's hands,
as he watches over you in that foreign land.
You'll be there until the job is done,
in dark of the night or in hottest sun.
You'll help these people make their stand,
against Those who have taken their land.
When it is over and again your at home,
from the land of the free you never have to roam.
As the freedom we enjoy in our fair land,
can also be had, by our fellow man.
